Quick  Overview

Take a look at the sample website database "Employees" we've installed here.  It is a employee contact database of a fictitious company "Brass Parts Inc" and all information in it is fictitious.  All address information are company branch addresses not employee home addresses. This company has over 17,000 employees located in 20 different states all over the United States from Alaska to Florida.    Any user may view the database but to do inserts, updates and deletes users must login.  The concept is that most users will only read the information contained in the database and a few administrators and power users will have privileges to view, update, delete and add new employees to this website database.  All that's needed is a web browser an Internet connection (even a dialup) to access this website database.

 

Open the Database and Do A Search

Just click Employee DB to open the Employee Database search form.  Here you can specify any criteria you want in order to see a particular selection of employee contact information. For example, enter "Harris" for Last Name and "WA" for state. This will return the contact information for the employees whose last names begin with Harris and are located in WA state. 

 

Sorting

Employee information displayed in the browser can be sorted by the search form by clicking on the sort buttons to the right of each criteria textbox.  Note that you are specifying both the order and the sort direction (ascending or descending) for associated database field.  Once you are viewing the search results page you can sort again on any column name that is underlined.

 

Changing Data in the Database

The records in this website database can be modified deleted or new records can be added by any logged in user.  New records are entered at the bottom of the search results form.  Note that three of the fields have validation associated with them.  F eel free to play around with the database as you wish.  We would be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you have, as well as show you some additional features of the website database that we have not discussed here.  If you have a need for such a database, we would also be happy to discuss with you how this can be accomplished.
