Databases and Websites
MicroFocus Software has successfully implemented solutions with a diverse
clientele. These organizations are involved in a range of businesses
including: Process Control, Pharmaceutical, Trucking, Scrape Metal,
Outplacement, Manufacturing and Entertainment industries.
Some representative PC software projects developed for clients include:
Developed high performance website in ASP.NET, ADO.NET, VB .NET and SQL Server
using Visual Studio 2003. These database-driven web sites perform
shipment tracking, submission of quote requests, and warehouse data reporting
in Crystal Reports.
As a consultant, developed and implemented a warehouse and distribution
database. This included all phases of the system's life-cycle, including
requirements analysis, interface with users, design, development,
implementation, maintenance and upgrades. Based on Access 2000, and SQL
Server 2000. The system involved the input and processing of orders from
clients, assembly plans, picking and packing scheduling, load planning, and
shipping. In the last spring launch for one of their clients, the
database allowed them to process over 28,000 shipments in 5 months, producing
123,000 kits using over 1 million piece parts. They had over 99.7% on time
delivery with no component shortages and were able to close over 95% of
the orders within 3 days of shipping.*
Developed a Microsoft Visual Basic application for the client to compute axle
loads for various combinations of its tractors, trailers, containers and
chassis. This graphical application ensures that the client won't exceed
federally mandated maximum loads for its trucking fleet.
Designed and implemented an Access database to process timecards from client
branch offices sites all over the country using Citrix thin client technology.
Data imported to both ADP and Solomon IV for Windows using Transaction Import.
Saved the company the cost to re-key all timecard data several times while
increasing accuracy and providing reports that management didn't have
previously.*
Developed the Verbatim Coding and Editing (VEC) database in Microsoft Access.
This program is used to perform customer satisfaction surveys. VEC imports text
files, processes verbatims and assigns codes to the verbatims and generates
reports on the processed data. Company able to provide its clients reports that
took days and in some cases weeks to create previously.
Developed the Financial Managed Care Database Application, in Microsoft Access.
It tracks by client financial obligations as they relate to the clients
managed care programs. This database is very complex consisting of hundreds of
tables, queries, forms and reports plus many thousands of lines of code.*
Developed financial spreadsheet applications, in Excel using Visual Basic for
Applications, which is in use by more than 50 branch offices to prepare
corporate budgets. Prepared large feasibility study that provides client with a
distributed enterprise-wide computing solution using a national virtual private
network WAN.*
Developed a Financial Forecaster application in Microsoft Excel consisting of
about four thousand lines of Excel Macros. The client used many routines
written for this project for other in-house projects.
A Microsoft Excel charting application was developed to graph multiple scenarios
of corporate financial data read from a text files.
* MicroFocus did requirements gathering, design, coding, testing,
documentation and deployment of applications as subcontractor to Signature
Business Systems, a Solomon VAR in Metuchen NJ.
